Conference: The Changing Nature of Family and Marriage in Contemporary Iran

Third Annual Conference of the Iranian Studies Initiative. The theme of this year’s conference is The Changing Nature of Family and Marriage in Contemporary Iran. Dr. Mary Hegland, from Santa Clara University, will offer the keynote address focusing on the evolution of the institution of marriage since the 1979 revolution. In addition, Dr. Ari Babanknia, a pioneer in women’s health and wellness, and Dr. Foojan Zeini, a psychologist who specializes in family and marriage therapy, will be moderating our panels. Several students from the Baha’i Institute of Higher Education in Iran will travel from Iran to discuss their work.

The conference will include live performances by Gordafarid, Ziba Shirazi,
and Bahram Osqueezadeh.
